Topics: Issues at The African National Congress Conference; & East African Art
Topics and Guests: From December 16 to the 20th South Africa’s governing party, the African National Congress (ANC), holds its national conference in Johannesburg. At the ANC’s 54th national conference, the organization will elect top officers and a new leader, as President Jacob Zuma, steps down as leader of the party. The new head of the ANC will be at the helm of the party’s ticket in the 2019 election. Many challenges confront the 105-year-old institution such as economic inequality, affordable higher education, unemployment, land distribution and other issues. Joining AfricaNow! to discuss issues confronting the ANC’s conference is Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool. Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool is head of World For All Foundation in South Africa and is a member of the African National Congress. Ambassador Rasool previously served as South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, and was Premier of the Western Cape.
AfricaNow! also focuses its attention on East African art: its origins, history, exposure, and challenges that East African artists confront. Joining the show to discuss this issue are Ms. Sirein Awadalla and Mr. Mohamed Saeed Omer of East African Visual Art Society.
