Topics and Guests: Today AfricaNow! begins with the commentary by AfricaNow!’s Executive Producer and co-Host James Pope entitled “Moving from Reacting to Responding”—placing today’s struggles, protests, resistance movements in historical context.  

AfricaNow! today also focuses on the legacy of Thomas Sankara who as President of Burkina Faso in the 1980s, was a revolutionary Pan-Africanist.  October 15 marks thirty years since Thomas Sankara was assassinated but his ideas still flow within the PanAfrican movements in the African World today.  Joining the show to discuss further Thomas Sankara’s legacy is Dr. Gnaka Lagoke, founder of Revival of PanAfricanism Forum.  Dr. Gnaka Lagoke is a specialist in African political affairs, issues of African development, Pan-Africanism and Ubuntu Philosophy. Dr. Lagoke is the founder of “The Revival of PanAfricanism Forum” a public forum which engages a permanent conversation on Africa and issues of the world and African Union from a PanAfrican perspective.  He has appeared on several international news organizations such as Voice America, Russia Today, HispanTV, Australian Broadcast Corporation, Democracy Now, Al Jazeera, CCTV, TVC News.
