Africa World Now Project (AWNP) is a direct outgrowth of the multidisciplinary, inter-organizational work that its founders have been engaged in, collectively, for over the last 20 years.  Following in the tradition of activist, thinkers, scholars, teachers such as, but not limited to Cedric Robinson, Amiri Baraka, Amilcar Cabral, Kwame Nkrumah, Ng?g? wa Thiong'o, Thomas Sankara, Haile Gerima, Amy Ashwood Garvey, Angela Davis, Ornette Coleman and all avant garde artist and thinkers, Thomas Porter, Maurice Jackson, Charlie Cobb, Assata Shakur, Claudia Jones, Ann Julia Cooper, Muhammad Ali, Robert Rhodes, Jack O’Dell, Septima Clark, James and Esther Cooper Jackson, Cheikh Anta Diop, Ella Baker, Queen Nanny, Maroon Communities, Theophile Obenga, Kwame Ture….

Since 2014, AWNP has been initiating and collaborating on education-based multimedia projects that centers African world agency as point of inquiry and analysis, a practice that is as old as conceptual Africa itself. To date, projects have included, New African Film Festival, African Diaspora Film Festival; Caribbean Film Festival; radio programs—AfricaNow! and AwNP RaDiO; BloomBars Films Screenings; and many more.
