Africa World Now Project (AWNP) is a multimedia platform that seeks to merge theory with practice through an active agenda where we engage in various initiatives that map the continuities in history, culture and politics of the entire African World...Our mission is to (re)connect Africa with all of its known and unknown parts.

Programs include:

  • New African Film Festival co-presented with afrikafé and AFI held yearly in March 
  • DC Caribbean FilmFest co-presented with Caribbean Association of World Bank and IMF Staff (CAWI), Caribbean Professional Network (CPN), Institute of Caribbean Studies and AFI held yearly in June
  • African Diaspora International Film Festival co-presented with ArtMattan held yearly in August
  • BloomScreen and AWNP present monthly film screenings on the last Tuesday of the month at BloomBars
  • AwNP RaDiO broadcasts from the studio of WSNC 90.5 on the campus of Winston Salem State University every Wednesday starting @ 7PM.  You can stream live at or access WSNC via TuneIn App.  Click here for archived shows.
